ICE STORM 2009

It all began with some snow and quickly turned into an amazing and interesting experience. On day 1, the boys went out to enjoy a snow day. Funnily enough Colin ended up pulling Dylan around on a sled.

Then more ice came. It made for a beautiful scene actually. Although it was like an ice skating rink all over the ground.

Once we realized this was not just a one or two day event, we buckled down and enjoyed some family time. Well, at least during daylight hours since we lost power. We played a couple of games of Cadoo...I think this pic of Colin "drawing" a clue for us is so cute.

So, one of the other things we did was to organize Pop's room a bit. We got rid of the old changing pad on the changing table. Now what could we possibly do with an old changing pad? I think Colin has an idea...

...he is such a boy!

Some places in Lexington had power so we at least got out for dinner. Here is a cool icicle we saw on the sign.

A picture of a tree in the backyard. Usually this tree stands tall above the roof of the house behind us. The weight of the ice pulled the branches down low.

Of course, with all this iciness, it was hard to resist the urge to go sledding. It was pretty fast sledding. Notice all the trees in the background are pulled over by the weight of the ice.

The only hard part was getting back up the hill. But Jonny, Dylan and Colin managed all right. They had fun!

JANUARY 2009

Is it really 2009 already? Many have been asking for a belly shot so here it is...taken by Dylan! Pretty good pic he took!

Then onto my birthday. It was a great day complete with some really thoughtful gifts from my boys!

Once Pop's room was painted, it was time to put up the border. The same border we put up with Dylan and Colin. With Dylan, we had a taupe paint, with Colin a green room and now with Pop we went with yellow.

One weekend we went to Cincinnati so Hillary and I could get massages followed by a day of scrapbooking. While we were away, the boys played. They went snow tubing. Here is Colin enjoying the tubing.

Dylan had a great time as well.

Aaron also enjoyed himself thoroughly!

Happy New Year!

We began the day with a playgroup that ended in a Countdown to Noon! All the kids had party hats and noisemakers and we had our little countdown and celebration just so the kiddos would not miss out on being able to celebrate "NoonYear".

We then did our traditional evening of bowling this year for New Years.

Colin really got into bowling this year. Here is an example of his night...roll the ball down the lane, come up to the table, eat a piece of pizza, walk back to the ball return, get his ball and roll his second ball.

We had a lot of fun...I just kept score...not much of a challenge since the computer does it automatically but I feel that I played a very important supervisorial role. (is that a word?)

The other new thing was that both boys tried Sparkling Cider. Colin kind of liked it at first but then changed his mind. Although I think in the future I will have a picture very similar to this except Colin will be bowling with his fraternity and the glass will be beer instead of apple cider.

When we went home we had a snack of cheese sandwiches and some more sparkling cider...this time in some wine glasses. Somehow, our 5 year old had seen how to hold a wine glass properly. He is so refined....no idea where he gets that from! Happy 2009 Everyone!
